The Potato Soup Path to Enlightenment (Final)

I challenged Claude to build the shortest possible overview of the Tibetan Buddhist "path to enlightenment" that I had come across in my short life with meditation.  


The four stages (there may be more elaborate maps):


  • Mindfulness  ("preparing the vessel") - to create the mental preconditions for the effort of meditation, eg gratefulness or admiration for the web of existence

  • Concentration / shamata - to stabilise attention 

  • Insight / vipassana - fundamental insights into "emptiness "of everything and non-duality experience 

  • Non-meditation - the unification of explicit meditation and daily life, no more effort
